  1. While playing, the program freezes or reboots (sometimes preceded by an error message).

Note: this is not a Sudoku Up specific error, but is related to the software/hardware configuration.
If Sudoku Up freezes, other games/programs with the same configuration will freeze.

To solve the problem:

1) First, restart your P.C. Errors are sometimes caused by a temporary conflict with drivers or programs.

2) Some opened applications can create the problem. Please close all open programs, then run Sudoku Up.

3) The problem can be related to the Video Card drivers. You can check the web page of your Video Card manufacturer for updated drivers. To see the Video card you are using, open Start, Settings, Control Panel, Display,Settings tab, Advanced button, Adapter tab.

4) Some advanced video cards can create problems. Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel, Display, Settings tab, Advanced button, Troubleshooting tab. Decrease the hardware acceleration to correct possible problems. Try all positions from "Full" to "None".

  1. Windows Vista, Windows 7 - Delay Before Sound Plays.

If you are a Windows Vista or Windows 7 user and you are experiencing a delay before sound plays or sound skipping, this is not a Sudoku Up issue, but could be a Sound Card drivers / configuration problem.
You can try to solve the problem enabling "Use DirectSound" in Sudoku Up doing the following:
1. Run Sudoku Up,
2. Click on "Tools" on the toolbar,
3. Choose "Options"; then in the left pane, "click Sounds",
4. Check "Use DirectSound" checkbox.

Or, if the problem persists after having enabled the DirectSound, try the following:
1. Click Start - Control Panel - Sound,
2. Right click on the Speaker/Headphones icon and choose properties,
3. Click on the "enhancements" tab,
4. Select the "Disable all enhancements" check box,
5. When finished, restart the PC.

  1. Windows Vista, Windows 7 - Error deleting/renaming file

Q: I'm running Sudoku Up and I get the error:

"Error deleting the file C:\Program Files\Sudoku Up\Data\..."
or
"Error renaming the file C:\Program Files\Sudoku Up\Data\..."

A: You have an old Sudoku Up installation and you upgraded your Windows installation (98, XP or previous version) to Windows Vista or Windows 7.

You get the error because Windows Vista and Windows 7 don't allow writing files in the C:\Program Files\  folder

To solve the problem, simply do the following:

  • Run Sudoku Up.
  • Click on "Tools" on the toolbar, then
  • choose "Options", then the "Settings" tab.
  • Click on "Store folder settings".
  • Select "Sudoku Up default Folder"
  • and click "OK" to confirm.

If you want to save your previous Sudoku Up configuration and statistics, you can move all the files from:
C:\Program Files\Sudoku Up\Data\*.*
to
[Sudoku Up default Folder]
For Windows Vista and Windows 7 the folder is:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Sudoku Up
